Casa Almara, an authentic place for independent travelers.

Casa Almara was created by Iván to show the local heritage to independent travelers who want to discover authentic, charming places and for those who like to get away from the busiest routes. It´s also a great place to interact with people, taste the gastronomy and stay in a small hotel run by a local family.

Dolo, his wife, is from Espejo and Iván is a restless and polyglot Basque man who likes getting lost and explore remote valleys, colorful markets and places full of history:

“In all trips there is always a ‘magic moment’, when after an intense and exhausting trip, I cross the doorstep of the accommodation, a great silent door… that´s the moment when I discover an unforgettable, authentic and quiet place that smells good, where everything is beautiful and clean and the owner welcomes me and makes me feel at home.” Iván says.

“When we bought this house we wanted a place like this in Espejo, a real and beautiful space for leisurely travelers. We decided to always restore it with the utmost respect for the original heritage and the traditions of the place. Dolo has always supported me in this idea and we have preserved everything that travels in time for its authenticity, working with local artisans who design tiles, create fabrics and recover objects with tradition and history. The house is full of small details that you discover during your stay”, he explains.

“Casa Almara is not only the way we try to preserve Espejo’s Heritage, but also our contribution to help the local community through sustainable tourism” Dolo says…

At Casa Almara you will discover the essence of the place, an unforgettable experience in Andalusia from the moment you arrive at the hotel where you are welcomed with tea, pastries and a warm smile that comforts you and makes you feel at home.

They´ll talk to you in English, French, Spanish or Basque. “I love talking with people from other cultures and listening to their stories,” Iván says.

And they take care of their clients so much that at breakfast you will be surprised by the fresh selection of local products: delicious bread from a wood-fired oven, tasty local extra virgin olive oil (AOVE), delicious organic eggs, healthy honey from a local beekeeper, and even salt taken from the local salt flats … to which they add a selection of seasonal fruit, served fresh and juicy or cooked in delicious homemade jams.
